Plaza Shopping instala coletor de guarda-chuvas quebrados

Com o objetivo de sensibilizar a população para a importância do consumo responsável, o Plaza Shopping investe em mais uma ação de sustentabilidade: instalou um coletor de guarda-chuvas quebrados, no Ecoponto, no piso E1, no Edifício Garagem. A novidade, disponível a partir desta segunda (27), é fruto da parceria com a RODA, empresa de design circular especializada em reaproveitamento criativo de materiais, que visa dar novo destino a um resíduo invisível e de difícil reciclagem, prolongando seu ciclo de vida por meio do upcycling e transformando-o em acessórios de moda sustentáveis.

Na prática, a RODA ficará responsável por transformar os tecidos coletados em bolsas, nécessaires e outros itens exclusivos de moda circular. “Nosso trabalho consiste em desconstruir o objeto, separar os materiais e aproveitar ao máximo o tecido, aplicando técnicas de costura e design que unem funcionalidade e estética. O resultado surge através de peças únicas, que carregam em si a história de um resíduo que teria o lixo como destino, mas que volta ao ciclo de consumo com valor agregado”, explica a sócia da RODA, Manu Moreira.

E a iniciativa vai além do design: “Esse projeto mostra que o descarte responsável pode ser também um ato de transformação ambiental. Cada guarda-chuva recolhido representa menos poluição e mais consciência. A moda circular é um caminho concreto para reduzir impactos e engajar as pessoas em escolhas mais sustentáveis”, completa a coordenadora de Responsabilidade Socioambiental do Plaza Shopping, Jakeline Soares.

Resíduos têxteis

Segundo a ONU Meio Ambiente, mais de 92 milhões de toneladas de resíduos têxteis são gerados anualmente no mundo. Os guarda-chuvas, comuns no cotidiano, representam um desafio extra: combinam tecido sintético, varetas de metal, plástico e fibras, o que praticamente inviabiliza sua reciclagem nos sistemas tradicionais. Como resultado, a maior parte acaba em aterros ou incinerada, contribuindo para a emissão de gases de efeito estufa e para o aquecimento global. Estima-se que um guarda-chuva leve em torno de 200 anos para se decompor na natureza.

RODA

Atualmente, o trabalho é feito com seis cooperativas de produção, sendo elas da Região Metropolitana do Recife e também de São Paulo. Mais de 200 mulheres já foram capacitadas. Entre os principais itens confeccionados com o material recolhido, bolsas, mochilas e coletes.
