Shopping Tacaruna recebe a exposição de animais da pré-história ‘Gigantes da Era do Gelo’

Animais pré-históricos que habitaram o Planeta Terra há milhares de anos estarão em cartaz no Shopping Tacaruna. Até o dia 13 de outubro, o mall recebe a exposição “Gigantes da Era do Gelo”, que reúne um acervo com 23 esculturas representativas de fósseis da era glacial, inclusive algumas delas se movimentam, na Praça de Eventos, situada no piso térreo do Tacaruna. Através da mostra, o público poderá conhecer um pouco mais sobre cada animal, como também fotografar e fazer uma viagem no tempo. O acesso é gratuito.

Uma das atrações principais é o mamute gigante. O mamífero de grande porte, com longas presas, trombas e o corpo repleto de pelos tem uma aparência que lembra a de um grande elefante. A réplica da exposição possui 4 metros.

Outro animal gigante da exposição é o Gigantopithecus, maior espécie de primata que já habitou a Terra. A escultura chama atenção pela grandeza: 2,3 metros de largura, 4,5 metros altura e 5 metros de comprimento.

O Tigre-dente-de-sabre, com seus caninos extremamente avantajados e saltados para frente, também pode ser apreciado pelo público. O Megalania, nome grego que significa "grande andarilho", é mais uma estrela que faz parte da exposição. O animal, lagarto-monitor extinto, que fazia parte da megafauna do leste da Austrália, viveu de 1,5 milhão a 40 mil anos atrás, durante a época Pleistocena. É o maior lagarto terrestre conhecido, media cerca de cinco metros e pesava cerca de 500 kg.

Extinção atribuída frequentemente à disseminação dos primeiros humanos pelo globo, a réplica do Rinoceronte-Ianudo é outra preciosidade de símbolos icônicos da Era do Gelo.  Variação dos atuais rinocerontes, ele possuía um avantajado casaco de pele, que atingia cerca de 3,5 metros de comprimento, 1,8 metro de altura e 3,5 toneladas. Alimentava-se de gramíneas e musgos e utilizava, os chifres, quando necessário, para cavar na neve e obter os alimentos.
